OCD tends to be treated like a quirk or an endearing trait. But it’s so much more than that. It’s the one thing that prohibits me from being free of myself

What is OCD?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that can impact individuals of any age or background. It manifests as intrusive and unwanted thoughts often fueled by fear. Those suffering from OCD may feel compelled to perform specific rituals or compulsions, believing that failing to do so will result in negative consequences. This condition can take hold quickly; what begins as a simple act of checking the door can escalate into a significant disruption of daily life.

Symptoms of OCD

 Common symptoms of OCD include:

  • Fear of contamination from disease or infection
  • Anxiety about harming oneself or others, such as worrying about leaving the stove on
  • An overwhelming need for symmetry or order, like ensuring that all labels in your pantry face the same way
  • Excessive cleaning and handwashing
  • Constantly rechecking items
  • Counting compulsively
  • Hoarding
  • Repeating specific words or phrases

This list is not exhaustive, and your experience with OCD may manifest differently.

What Can Be Done?

The good news is that hypnotherapy can be highly effective in managing OCD. Since OCD is a learned behavior, it can also be unlearned. By visiting this page, you have already taken the first step toward addressing your OCD.

During the initial consultation, we work with clients to explore the underlying causes of their unhelpful habits. By understanding how our brains function, we begin to sever the connection between obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. This process continues in subsequent sessions, empowering you to reclaim control over your life.
